Bibliographic data for materials in the National Diet Library holdings is available from NDL-OPAC.
In addition to our holdings, bibliographic data for materials from the collections of various institutions including public libraries is available from NDL Search.

JAPAN/MARC (a machine-readable version of the Japanese National Bibliography) is distributed for a fee. In addition, it is also possible to use RSS feeds, the NDL Search API, and the download function of NDL-OPAC to get bibliographic data free of charge.

I would like to obtain and use bibliographic data. Do I need to apply for this etc.?

If you need this for commercial purposes or to acquire a very large amount of data, please contact the Library (in Japanese).

What is the "Japanese National Bibliography"?
A
This is for broadly and rapidly reporting (both in Japan and abroad) the standard bibliographic data for publications acquired and cataloged by the National Diet Library.
It consists of domestic Japanese publications deposited through the legal deposit system, as well as Japanese publications acquired (donated, purchased, etc.) by methods other than the legal deposit system, and foreign publications in Japanese.
