Q
Is there an expiration date for my registered-user card? What should I do when my card expires?
A
A registered-user card will expire three years after its date of issue or its date of renewal (date of renewal refers to the date on which the National Diet Library either updated the user's registered information or issued a card, at the request of that user. If you have changed your password or delivery address yourself, this does not count toward date of renewal.)
If your card expires, you will have to complete registration as a new user once more.

Q
What should I do to renew my registered-user card?
A
Starting from three months before the expiration date of your card (up to the expiration date), when you log in to the NDL-OPAC a message will be displayed on the screen, explaining how you can update your expiration date (a three-year extension) on your own.

Q
I have lost my registered-user card.
A
Please notify us by phone that you have lost your registered-user card. Additionally, we recommend that you log in to the NDL-OPAC to change your password. The next time you visit the Library, please submit a reissue application form at the User Registration Counter (Tokyo Main Library) or the Entrance Counter (Kansai-kan Library) after presenting identification (such as a driver's license or insurance card). Your card will be re-issued on the spot.
