Q
Is there an expiration date for my registered-user card? What should I do when my card expires?
A
A registered-user card will expire three years after its date of issue or its date of update. The expiration date is automatically updated every time using our services such as logging in the NDL Search, entering the Tokyo Main Library or Kansai-kan Library, etc.
If your card expires, you will have to complete registration as a new user once more.

Please notify us by phone that you have lost your registered-user card. Additionally, we recommend that you log in to the NDL Search to change your password. The next time you visit the Library, please submit a reissue application form at the User Registration Counter (Tokyo Main Library) or the Entrance Counter (Kansai-kan Library) after presenting identification (such as a driver's license or insurance card). Your card will be re-issued on the spot.
