International Symposium: Past and Present of Japanese-French Exchanges―from the Collection of National Diet Library and Bibliothèque nationale de France

The National Diet Library (NDL), under the agreement for cooperation with Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France, hereafter called "BnF"), will launch the digital exhibition "Modern Japan and France ― adoration, encounter and interaction" ("Japon moderne et France ― adoration, rencontre et interaction") featuring Japan-French relations in December 2014. In commemoration of this, the NDL will hold an international symposium, inviting from the BnF the specialist of Japanese materials Ms. Véronique BÉRANGER. She is known for the research of Shuhanron-Emaki and has also participated as a scientific coordinator in the Franco-Japanese Digital Portal Project (2013-2014) of the BnF. After the lecture, a panel discussion will be conducted by Ms. Béranger, Prof. Christophe MARQUET (Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations)), Emer. Prof. Akira NISHIBORI (Yokohama National University) with the facilitation by Prof. Nobutaka MIURA (Chuo University).
