Digital Information Resources Roundtable: Working Group (1) Forum for Promotion of Digital Archives in Public Libraries

• Survey on best practices of digital archiving projects conducted by public libraries in Japan (FY2010)
• Annual meeting

The National Diet Library (NDL) surveyed 23 domestic public libraries actively conducting digital archiving projects to provide contents and/or information about their regions (including 3 local governments as reference cases). In this survey, interviews by e-mail were conducted about the start of digital archiving projects, contents, process and framework for construction of digital archives, daily work and issues, participation of regional residents, cooperation with other institutions, use of commercial services, future prospects, etc.

The 3^rd Forum was held on the theme of upskilling of librarians in charge of the construction and/or operation of digital archives in public libraries.

The 2^nd Forum consisted of two case reports from targeted libraries of "survey on best practices of digital archiving projects conducted by public libraries in Japan " and a panel discussion inviting experts and staff members of the relevant ministries.

The 1^st Forum consisted of case reports from some public libraries and a panel discussion.
