Dr. Arun Kumar Chakraborty, given additional charge of Director General of the National Library of India

Dr. Arun Kumar Chakraborty is now having additional charge of the Director General, National Library of India, effective May 16, 2015, and taking over from prior Director Dr. .P. Y. Rajendra Kumar. He is Director General Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF) of Ministry of Culture (MoC) and also Mission Director of National Mission on Libraries (NML) of MoC. Received his Ph.D. in LIS from Vidyasagar University, Dr. Chakraborty’s credentials include professional experience at the Bose Institute Library and many other orgnisations more than 28 years. He is also recipient of Fulbright Fellowship in 2005-2006 and also received “Best Librarian Award” in 2012 by Indian Library Association (ILA). He has published more than 55 research papers in national / international journals/ seminars. He is also Ph.D. guide of University of Calcutta and member of different national and international committees on LIS.
