The National Library of Australia has worked in a collaborative way with other Australian and overseas libraries for many years, and is today involved in a large number of networking projects and services. The following is a brief overview of a few flagship collaboration activities with other Australian libraries that the National Library has been involved in over the last few years.
National and State Libraries Australasia (NSLA) - Re-imagining Libraries
Since it commenced in 2008, the National Library of Australia has been heavily involved in the National and State Libraries Australasia (NSLA) Re-imagining Libraries program. Library staff have led and contributed actively to NSLA groups working on a range of strategic priorities to improve and harmonise public access to collections and services.
As a result of Re-imagining activities, members of the Australian public can expect consistent approaches to reference and other services across all NSLA libraries. Registered patrons of the National Library and Australian state and territory libraries can all now access a core set of eResources, with most products available for offsite use by patrons at the place of their choice. Articles from some of these licensed resources can be found and accessed via Trove. NSLA libraries recognise that many patrons need to access resources which are not available in digital form, and are collaborating to further streamline and align document delivery services. Trove
Since 1998 the Library has collaborated with Australian collecting institutions to develop a series of national online discovery services that bring like resources together so that users can find items on a particular topic regardless of which institution holds those items. The content of these services is now discoverable through the Library's discovery service: Trove, which provides a single platform from which users can discover the information held in Australian and overseas collections. Through Trove the Library is collaborating with a broad range of institutions beyond our traditional partners in the library and cultural sectors. For access to Trove, see: http://trove.nla.gov.au/

Libraries Australia
For many years the Library has provided leadership to the Australian library community through developing and hosting collaborative systems and services that support the sharing of resources held in Australian libraries. Our flagship service, Libraries Australia, facilitates the sharing of catalogue records and interlibrary loans between libraries across Australia. Libraries Australia also provides an access pathway for Australian libraries to major international catalogues, including those of the British Library and the Library of Congress. The success of Libraries Australia relies on the participation of the Australian library sector through the contribution of catalogue records and data about which resources each library holds; participation in the Libraries Australia Document Delivery Service and payment of subscription fees for unlimited use of the service by libraries and their patrons. Newspaper digitisation and Australian Newspaper Plan
NSLA libraries have also worked together for over 20 years on a program to ensure all historic and current Australian newspapers are collected comprehensively, preserved and catalogued for ongoing access. The program is known as the Australian Newspaper Plan. The Library manages and coordinates the program and an annual report documents progress against 5-Year work plans endorsed by NSLA. The work program includes digitisation of newspapers and working together to ensure content available through Trove continues to grow. Digitised Australian newspaper content can be found at: http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper?q=
