| Introduction
The library is considered the knowledge centre
or the brain of the school. It is the place where teachers and students
can go to obtain information and enjoy reading. The emphasis placed on
upgrading the facilities and services of the library is evidence on how
much emphasis is placed on developing the teachers and students knowledge
in all areas.
Library of Iskandhar School was founded in 1977.
The school library has 27,742 books at the moment. It has a fairly good
number of English and Dhivehi books. The English section contains more
than 28,000 books both reference, fiction and non fiction. Dhivehi
section contains almost 2,500 books. In addition library holds journals,
newspapers and magazines. Library is open on school days from 07:00
– 12:00 in the morning and 01:00 – 06:00 in the afternoon. We have two
assistant librarians and a library trainee to help the students in selecting
and locating the books. The books have been classified and arranged subject
wise and accessioned. They are placed on open shelves and free accessible
to the readers. There is no catalogue system in the library. All students
could use the library for reading and referencing purposes. Grade 1, 2,
3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 students are allowed to borrow books for duration of one
