    Project Objectives and Strategic Intents

The project is proposed with the following objectives:

  • To dignify and honour the exalted office of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
  • To educate and create understanding on the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as contained in the Federal Constitution
  • To inculcate and instill loyalty to the Yang di-Pertuan by the citizens as contained in the Rukun Negara
  • To enrich local contents and make available on-line authoritative information on the Institution of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
  • The strategic intent of the project is to:
  • Inculcate a greater awareness among the community towards a better understanding on the Malaysian Monarchy System
  • Instill loyalty towards the King and Nation amongst the citizen
  • Provide a platform for a virtual royal connection between the citizen and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
  • Act as an important component in establishing the right attitude towards the supreme Head and the Government and thereby propagating a peaceful and harmonious Malaysia
  • Thus, the development of the portal would be more importantly intended to create loyal citizens. A loyal citizen will have within himself:
    - A sense of love and belonging to the country
    - A sense of responsibility towards the nation
    - A sense of loyalty and patriotism
Problems or Opportunities to be addressed

As required by the DAGS Secretariat, the problems and opportunities to be addressed by this project had to be clearly stated by the promoter. This project intends to address the following:

  • To enable public access to authoritative information on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Currently, such information is scarce and only made available to selected few or elitists.
  • To ensure that the public, especially the younger generation, fully understand the Monarchy System and thus respect and honour the sovereignty of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong
  • To maximize the use of technology in enriching local contents for a wider and global dissemination of information
  • The development of a portal on the King allows for a wider access on the institution of the Head of State.  The National Library of Malaysia believes that this project will have a great impact on the general public and in particular Malaysian citizens in inculcating awareness towards a greater understanding on the Malaysian monarchy system.  This is understanding is a prerequisite in instilling loyalty towards the King and Nation amongst the rakyat as contained in the Rukun Negara.  This initiative should also be viewed as an effort taken by the National library of Malaysia in enriching local content in the multimedia digital format.
