Editorial Office of the CDNLAO
Newsletter

With the last issue of the CDNLAO Newsletter, we attached a questionnaire sheet and asked the editorial correspondents to give us their opinions on our suggestion: the Newsletter should feature one or two special subjects in each issue so that member libraries can exchange views and information based on a common interest (questionnaire sheet is shown below). By the end of September, we had received responses from two libraries: the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) and the National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ) (received in that order). Both libraries agreed to the suggestion and showed their interest in subjects such as "digitization," "preservation" and "copyright." The NLP is also interested in the theme of "establishing networks and linkages among public libraries" while the NLNZ cited "collection development," "electronic publishing," "digital or hybrid library," "standards" and "access to e-government information" as topics of interest to them (the table below shows the answers of both libraries to Question 1 and 2). We really appreciate the NLP and the NLNZ's cooperation in setting a new editorial policy and look forward to hearing from other libraries. Though the number of responses we received is very limited, we would like to put our plan into practice from next issue of the CDNLAO Newsletter, which will be published in March 2003. The first theme we discuss will be "Preservation." Any article on preservation including problems you have and efforts you are making are welcomed. We believe that there are many things worth sharing among CDNLAO members
and hope that the Newsletter can provide the place for productive communication.
Q1: Do you agree with our suggestion to feature special subject(s) in
the Newsletter?
Q2: What kind of subjects are you interested in?
