Exhibition and One Day Symposium of Johannes Rach's Drawing 2001

Ibu Megawati Soekarnoputri (at the time when this newsletter is published has become the Presidents of Republic of Indonesia) on Monday, May 14th, 2001 opened the Exhibition and one day symposium of Johannes Rach's Drawing in the National Library Building.

The opening ceremony was attended by: 

  • Minister of National Education
  • Minister of Culture and Tourism
  • Governor of DKI - Jakarta
  • Ambassador of the Netherlands
  • Director of Collection Rijksmuseum - Amsterdam
  • Prominent Guest from many institution

The speakers in the symposium were: 
 
Prof. Dr. J.P.Sigmond "Mutual Heritage of Indonesia and Netherlands: the project Johannes Rach 1720-1783"
Dr. A.J. Heuken ''From Shipyard to very old café"
Drs. Uka Tjandrasasmita "Rach's Pictures of Batu Tulis Bogor as source for the history of Pajajaran"
Drs. Bast Kist "Studio Johannes Rach; an early art factory"
Drs. Max de Bruin "Vomiting Sailors; daily life in Batavia as depicted by Johannes Rach"
Gardjito, M. Sc. "Battling Fungus; the conservation and protection of paper heritage"

The one day symposium was closed by Deputy for Collection Development and information services with the explanation that in March 2002 this exhibition will be continued in Amsterdam and most probably in Copenhagen and South Africa.
