National Library Acquired New Furniture

Researchers and library users using the National Library (NL) collections will now be able to read and study conveniently following the delivery of twenty new study carrels and chairs in April 1999. Meanwhile, library statistics has shown a marked increase in the number of users using the library. 28 people can have seats at any one time, the seating capacity of the study area.
The new furniture sets were bought by the department of finance for nearly $16,000.00. There was a great need for these items to be ordered due to shortage of seats and study tables in the library. It is not only had caused inconvenience to library users but also has drastically reduced number of users using the library. Daily users to the National Library consist mainly of adult researchers and students, which come from primary, secondary and community high schools, College and the USPSI Center in and around Honiara.
