On Friday 30 July 99, the National Library of Singapore was very honoured to host a visit for Mrs Barbara Mogae, First Lady of the Republic of Botswana

The whole Library was excited as this was the first time we were receiving someone of such a high social status. We were also excited because Botswana is a leading exporter of diamonds ¨C we were looking forward to a diamond studded VIP, and to witness first hand Botswana diamonds. (However, when she arrived, we were faced with a very matronly and friendly First Lady of Botswana instead, without the diamonds.)
Once a librarian at the Botswana National Library, she took a keen interest in our services and facilities. Heer remark after the tour was, "a fascinating return to the library world". I suppose this brief one hour must have been a trip down memory lane for her.
