As the NDL belongs to the Diet, its annual revenues and expenditures are inthe national budget. The total amount of the initial budget appropriated for NDLis approximately 19,498 million yen for FY2011 beginning in April 2011,excluding the funds for construction outlay.
Approximately 2,414 million yen is allocated forlibrary materials as follows:

Purchases of library materials	870 million yen
Compensations for publications deposit	390 million yen
Purchases of scientific/technical materials	1,093 million yen
Purchases of materials for legislation	61 million yen
